This is for me one of the most unique and elusive military watches ever. Also one of my personal favorites.

The Hanhart 54 has a fantastic 39mm case with a very slim profile making it look absolutely amazing on the wrist and extremely rare size for a time only watch from the WWII era.

Interesting is the fact that this type of watch has been built almost from the beginning to the end of the war. Inside is a stripped Hanhart caliber 40 chronograph movement with the chrono parts removed. Many people thought these watches were pocket watch conversions because of the large size and the display with seconds at 9. But this is the famous cal. 40 from Hanhart chronographs with the chrono parts stripped, you can see in the movement where these parts used to fit.

So the watch uses the same size case but with a very slim profile. Same cathedral hands with black dial and radium lume as the chronographs.

These beautiful watches have gained more attention lately. These were hardly ever seen in the past . About their use, there are many rumors. In addition to the Luftwaffe they were also used in the army and in the Waffen-SS. After the war there was a civilian version made until the 50s. The military watches all had a pressed stainless steel bottom while in the civilian version the movement was inserted from above.

A really rare kind of military watches from a well know maker of military watches, still in production today Hanhart still makes military inspired watches today and built a commemorative edition of this watch called the Pioneer Preventor9.

This watch is in all original condition.

Case was matte chromed with typical fixed lugs, dial and hands are completely original, nothing redone, retouched or repainted.

Good working conditions.
