Military watches are among the highest collectible watches and highly sought after.
Field watches, aviation chronographs, diver watches all played an important role in watchmaking history because many of them were developed with special features in mind.
The Aquastar 63 was one of the chosen for the Portuguese Marines and special forces “Fuzileiros” during the Colonial wars in Angola and Mozambique.
These were ordered by the Portuguese military and assigned to these special forces as part of their gear. At the end of their tour the military had to give them back but had the option of purchasing the watches for 1.000$ or 5€ which nowadays is the equivalent of about 400€.
These watches had no military engravings but all of them had a small hallmark on the top left lug which indicated they were imported for the Portuguese market and had paid due taxes.
As all military pieces used in actual combat they have a special charisma and value because of the history they carry. These are no exception and are a very special part of military history.
