The Heuer Autavia has become a premium model for vintage Heuer collectors. This version – also referred to as the Autavia "30 Dato" – was upgraded in several different ways.
While it may feel like it is a minor update, this is the first Autavia with a date function, which is a major difference in its appearance. The case is beefed up to 40mm from a 38mm case in the earlier Autavia models. To add to its durability, in 1968 Heuer adopted a snap-back compressor case. This was a nifty design in which the caseback was actually controlled by the surrounding water pressure; the gaskets tighten accordingly to ensure water resistance up to 100 meters (330 feet). This example has an attractively weathered look; the beautifully aged bezel has turned into a faded grey color that contrasts very well against the matte black dial.
All original condition.
Original dial and hands, not repainted or retouched.
Original crown and original pushers.
Case was never polished as you can see by the photos with the lugs still with the original sharp bevels. Normal wear and age signs. Running perfectly.
For me personally it’s one of the most beautiful Autavias
The round 40mm case, the reverse panda dial, the crown and the pushers, just amazingly classic and timeless.
